anybody else's clutch engage at the very top?? =)

i dont know if mines been like that for a long time or im just now noticing it...me and my roomate were talkin about clutches last night and now im all paranoid lol...but seriously my clutch(pedal) engages like almost at the very top...170k..should i start saving my pennys for a new clutch??
how much u think a reasonable shop would do it for?? and i say reasonble cuz theres alot of shops around here so theres alot of price competition.(dallas area)

Drive the car in 2nd speed at around 40 mph, push the clutch in, floor it and as soon as it hits redline, bring the clutch up real quick. If it grabs right away, and doesnt slip, it should be ok for a while.
My clutch also grabs near the top, so it's probably near the end, but as long as it holds well, I'm not worried. Also I guess it helps to know I'll be doing the MC swap come spring time. Includes new clutch and all

I would say about top 1/3 to 1/4. I replaced the clutch about 50K miles ago so I know its good. Audi clutches seem to engage a bit higher than most cars. When it comes to replacing a clutch, most places won't give a price ahead of time. They can give you an estimate but if they come across a snag (like an impossible rusty crusty part) they will charge you their hourly wage. As for the best price on a clutch, I say shop around online. There are many places and most of them will have different price.
