Anybody ever rebuilt their own brake/clutch cylinders?
DOT 4 brake fluid is supposedly compatible with all seal materials, making me believe that standard o-rings in the correct sizes from a hardware store should work fine. I've rebuilt hydraulic components as part of my A&P classes at school and found that it's really very simple. My master brake cylinder, master clutch and clutch slave cylinders all need to be replaced/rebuilt. Just curious if anybody here has ever done it.

Me has....
Get the rebuild "kit", if available, as it has all the correct seals to do the job right. You dont want to cut corners on brake master cylinders. There are specialy shaped seals in the cylinders, not just simple round O-rings.
Plus the seal material has to be correct, to survive in the oil.
You may find the rebuild kits cost more than a new master cylinder...
They do this, to make you buy the new part, vise the rebuild kit.
