Since I know you have a Cab, I'll tell you the problem. If you are lucky, the plastic antenna cable has snapped. $45 at Audi for just a new mast. Usually, the metal drive gear inside the power antenna eats the plastic gear. This happens because the plastic gear fits into a spring loaded slip fitting that acts as a clutch to ensure the antenna is totally retracted before the drive motor cuts off. If it binds, the plastic gear teeth get eaten. Way too much engineering in this system. The plastic gear can look OK, but inside where the two gears mate, it is stripped of teeth. The fix for this, to keep it original, is to get a junk one and inspect the gear before paying for it. New antenna assembly is rediculously expensive from Audi and you can't just buy the failed part. I haven't found a suitable replacement and I need a back up, too.
