I wonder if TDLRacing has tried it. It would make the $3000 ported & polished heads more reasonable.

I don't know if anyone has actually done it, but it has been discussed once or twice in the archives and the general agreement is that it should work. If you were to try though, the 12v and 30v headgaskets are interchangeable so the head should bolt up, you will need intake and exhaust manifolds from the 30v and timing belt. There are probably a bunch of other little things that will be needed as well. Also you will have to decide how to handle engine management. It is probably more work than it is worth.

Default just to add to that . . .

I know people interchange the gaskets, but i also think that its a good possibility that not all of the cooling/oil passages between the block and the head neccessarily coordinate btw the 12v and 30v, since the 30v has a different engine block. but then again, since I don't own either of the engines I don't know for sure - there might not be a difference! but its just something to watch out for.

The 30v headgasket has a few additional passages on it, but it still has all the same passages as the 12v. So it should work fine. I am using a 2.7tt headgasket on my car. I really should have taken pictures comparing the old and new gastkets before the engine went together.

Default My friend asked on this forum over the summer and the answer was no.

The stuff is no longer on the forum where I can find it. But Miktip had agreed that the head swap would not work. His intention was to use a pes superchargger.
Someone said the head gaskets were differnt and so was head bolt placement. It was said that it was suppose to be a complete engine rebuild but the page was kinda empty of ideas.

You need to make sure it is not just a dual purpose headgasket.

Since my car is turbocharged, it is a much better option than the stock paper HG.
