Default Audi 80 central locking

Just bought an 80 2litre e (1992) The central locking does not work. Any one else suffered with this, or any tips/diagrams/help gratefully received.

I have checked the fuses and power to the pump, all OK, it does not work from the passanger door either. I think the pump is not working, should it make any noise when locking the doors? Also a bit confused as to what the other set of wires is going into the pump, I can only assume they are something to do with the alarm/immobiliser etc. To tell the truth I dont even know if I have an alarm fitted, where would that be?

Default READ.....Testing Procedure!!!

What do you mean by other set of wires??? You should have one vacuum line going to it with one electrical connector (with 5 wires I believe).

Here's some tests.....if you have a voltmeter or circuit tester. Remove the electrical plug from the of the vacuum pump and do the following....(with BOTH doors UNLOCKED)..

1) With a voltmeter (circuit tester), connect one side to the Red/Black wire and the other to the Brown wire...should have 12V(light)!!

2) Connect the Green/Blue wire to the Brown wire...should have 12V

3) Connect the Green/Red wire to the Brown wires....should have 12v

(NOW GO LOCK BOTH DOORS)

4) Connect the Green/Blue with the Red/Black....should have 12v. (Should have 0V (no light) between Green/Blue and Brown)

5) Connect the Green/Red with the Red/Black....should have 12v. (Should have 0V between Green/Red and Brown)

Place the KEY in the ignition (do not turn key)

6) Connect Red wire to the Brown wire...should have 12v. (Should have 0V when key is out of ignition).

Write back what you find out!!! Good Luck!!

if the fuses are good to the pump and the system doesn't work from the doors, try the trunk,if the system works from the trunk, both door lock actuators are probably bad.if it still doesn't work,it needs a pump.the other wire connectors are for interior lighting, etc
