So I made another thread asking about a certain suspension option. Basically I want the V-land coils (only coils available, anywhere) which are a 1.5 inch drop and I'm pairing this with Bilstein shocks. I've read 1000 mixed reviews on these shocks so I'm just going to try them myself.
ANYWAYS.... I keep seeing notations on products about the 'sport suspension'. What is this? I did not even receive a clear answer from a specialist company. In my opinion it seems the Audi 80 had more than one suspension option. the Vogtland coils also specify they can't be used with 'original sport suspension'. I don't understand what is being referenced. Is this just an unclear way of saying all the Audis had a sport suspension, and these parts aren't meant to be compatible with the other stock height parts? This seems obvious. I don't know what to order so I need some insight. Basically just need to know how many suspensions an Audi 80 came with.
Thanks
The clue is the paint marks on the OEM springs. If you have one orange and one yellow stripe..you have a standard suspension.
If you have three brown and two pink stripes..or two pink and and one violet stripe..you have a sports suspension.
The stripes look like this:
There is a sticker with all the build-codes around the area near the spare tire. It can be cross-referenced with the Bentley shop manual (www.bentleypublishers.com) to determine the suspension type. Typically the designations are 1BA for standard suspension and 1BE for 'sport suspension' The tag looks like this:

Excellent, thank you! The sticker I found does not say but I'll keep looking for another one. My coils are too rusty to have colors on them. I am counting 6 coils on the front spring, if that means anything.
