audi 90 automatic transmission

audi 90 automatic transmission
I need to rebuild the automatic transmission on my 1990 audi 90 with 2.3L engine. The local salvage yards say there were two transmissions used that year a KAU and RBP. When I look on line for rebuild kits all I see is the numerical designations 087 and 089. My transmission tag says RBP. Is the RBP a 089 trans?

RBP is a 087 and is for a 5-cyl FWD 90, KAU is a 089 is for a 4-cyl FWD 80...
...you need to make sure you keep the same tranny code as what your 90 came with.
