Seem like there are about 4 trannies that fit in that car. Did anyone actually TRIED to put one of these in?

and it works fine! it has a 097 tranny in it. Mine is a 93.

...4cyl are coded 089, same as 4cyl Audi 4000, VW quantum or VW Fox. If it's 5cyl, same tranny is in Audi 5000 and 4000 cyl.
Everyone on here says nothing else fits in Audi 90 auto.

You can see that 4cyl Audi 4000 auto has the same tranny as Audi 80/90. Also VW Fox/Quantum.

That you want a tranny other than the 087 to fit in a 4-cyl 90? Unless I am mistaken, Different engines should mate with different transmissions because of differences in HP and torque and the methods of shifting an auto tranny, if not just because of space. Do I read you correctly, or am I way off?

You're off. What I'm saying is that everyone claimed that 4cyl auto tranny in Audi 90(code 089) is one car tranny only and the link clearly shows that Audi 4000/4cyl auto has the same tranny as well as VW Quantum and VW Fox(I found this one somewhere else).
