Default audi CQ 1990 20V no start

Hi all,

I really needs help to troubleshoot my car.

I have fault 2111, engine speed sensor is new and I've done electrical tests on it and wiring also and everything is good. I have no sparks at all, wiring, sparkplugs, cap and rotor are year old. I've done coil check as per book and is also good.

What items I might check? What can make the engine not having sparks at all?

Thanks,

Nicolas

Sounds like the distributor is pooched. Also check the distance from the sensor to ring gear on the flywheel...should be (<1.2mm)

Going through this on my Wife's car. It's pretty similar in function. You may get some good tips.

Make sure the timing belt hasn't slipped a tooth or two.

Hi,

First, thanks for those reply, it helps.

how can I check distance of speed sensor? And also how can that distance be change, nothing seems to be adjustable?

Does the coolant temperature can make my ECU to not send signal to sparkplugs? Does the engine can start without hall sender signal?

I will check everything this this weekend and will let you know.

thanks,

Nicolas

Hey Nickolas...yes you need a signal from the hall sensor in order to allow the engine to start. Signal from the hall sensor tells the distributor that evrything is in line and ready to produce spark that will start the car.

The temperature sender will not keep your engine from starting. There's two... One for the Gauge, and one for the ECU to adjust the air mixture. Cold cars will get a richer mixture to achieve normal operating temperature.

Hi all,

FYI

I've done all electrical tests : hall sender, coil, speed and ignition sensor, coolant temp etc. I've even recheck timing belt and timing settings. Everything was good. I've try one last thing, playing with MPI connector while trying starting car.

And voilà, I'm back on track!!! I found the problem, I had a bad connection between electrical connection and MPI. The little pins that goes in have been damage while troubleshooting (I guess) and was not making the connection. That one was hard to find. I have no more codes.

Thanks all for support and assistance on this one.
