Is the B4 rear shock/housing and all that stuff on quattro the same as the FWD?

And as far as removal & install too?
And do you compress the spring before unbolting stuff or can you just take the whole housing out and compress the spring after and away from the car?
Not much to search on the archives regarding rears..

4 bolts on shock mount to body, 17mm I think. 1 bolt on bottom of shock attached to the lower control arm. Might need a punch to tap it out. Put the jack under the control arm.
Pull the whole shock/spring out then compress it on a bench, or whatever ya got.
Then there's a bolt through the mount and top of the shock. Pull the shock out, and ahh....do what ya want with it.
Air tools help on this one...

wheel bearing housing. Spring/shock unit is removable w/out touching the axles or toe control links. Going from memory of the A4tq...

You unbolt the assembly from the unit body, then can work on removing the spring and shock. Look up how to do it for an A4q, your rear suspension is "the same", so R&R is the same.
We did not use air tools on the A4tq. You shouldn't either...

so that being said, I would not need an alignment after? Car was just aligned month-and-a-half ago.
