if the clutch is let out quickly there is a bang in the drivetrain that I can hear and feel. I think the rear differential has loosened, but could it have anything to do with the clutch which doesn't catch until it is almost totally let out? any ideas?

arew you reffering to when you shift quick into second gear ...something like that....when i quick shift second i get a smack sound but i figure it is just the differential locking...

Its not a big problem, but it is hard to drive the car smoothly, in any gear I have to let the clutch out very slow at the point of catching, but it is really noticed starting off in first gear or in stop and go driving like in a parking lot. I can keep the drivetrain from banging but its a nuisance.

Or the rear diff mounts. I have the excact problem but in my case it is the carrier bearing.
I am replacing the shaft.
I Notice the LASH when shifting, if in a gear too high and let off the gas or jump on it.
I hope to have my problem all done in the coming weeks...woohoo...
Put the car on ramps and try to push the shaft towards the floor to check for play. Mine is that bad now that i can almost fit a pencil between the shaft and the bearing housing...****ty deal eh...
