Default Optimas are great bateries, some of the lightweight batteries are pretty cool too

The lightweight batteries will let you drop about 20-35 lbs but do not offer much reserve capacity, Optima batteries have lots of reserve capacity. I am using a 4 year old Optima red top in my CGT but would like to try a lightweight battery to take some weight of of the front end.
There was a guy on VWvortex selling pretty good lightweight batteries IIRC.

Default unfortunately, there are no optima batteries for the 80/90 or CQ that will fit unless you do

somethink like me and move it to the trunk. In the CQ, between the rear of the trunk and spare, you should have roof under the floor for an optima group 51 battery. I don't have a CQ, so i couldn't say for sure.

For size reference, mine is lower than the trunk level...about 2/5 of the battery is not visible...the Group 51 batteries are tall.

Default no, it's pretty easy if you know what to expect....

i ran my cable through the car and through the firewall...but i've had my interior out so many times, i was able to run the cable within 25 minutes.

Default I think I've got a DieHard; Interstate seems popular, I dunno...

I don't think too much about my battery, but I just expect my car to start every morning. Going lightweight and relocating it to the trunk seems like a good idea though, if you're so inclined.

Default I have a d34 optima and this box is being shipped to me for my coupe quattro:

Should work nicely in the rear of my coupe quattro.

Cheers
