Default bleeding brake fluid,flushing coolant

I have done this before on my 200 quattro, just wondering if you guys have any word of advice on bleeding brake fluid, flushing coolant and changing radiator fan switch while at it.I would also like to replace thermostat.Bentley is talking about using special tool to drain coolant,is this necessary to have?

Default This worked for me and others can confirm...

As far as the coolant, Search the Forum Archives or Google should get you far.

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articles/susp_whls_brake_steer/brakebleed.html</a

Default A colder switch won't help...

If you put in a colder switch, your fan will just run all the time because the thermostat will just adjust flow to keep the engine at optimum temperature.

Alternatively, Don't buy a colder thermostat. Most modern cars are designed to run most efficiently around 195F, too cold and it may fail to reach closed loop resulting in increased emissions and poor gas mileage.

If your car is running hot while driving, check/replace thermostat and/or radiator.

As for the brakes, if you don't have access to a vacuum or pressure bleeder, Google "gravity bleed". It is an alternate method that will not harm your ABS components and can be done by yourself.
