Default Blown rear diff..i mean rear cv shaft removal....Need tips..

I have the side, rear driver side, apart to remove the cv joint. I have all the screws on the flange removed and the outer reomoved from the hub. However i cannot get the plange to let go from the diff. Any tips. i don't want to heat it or beat too much as to ruin the seal.

I am in my drivway scratching my head....
It's funny how one side of the car can differ so much from the other. I mean in the ease of removing bolts and what not, and corrosion. Grrr

THansk

Default God... Return of the whiner.. lol

How did you blow your rear shaft? You mean that you have a ripped boot right?? lol... I have a quattro shaft you can have for $50. I haven't sold either side yet...

instructions:
take wheel off
undo axle bolt
undo 6 8mm 12pts bolts on diff for axle
remove
replace.
Easy.

No the boot isn't ripped. As for the smart *** answer to my problem.
instructions:
take wheel off-Done
undo axle bolt- Done and removal of axel bolt is much easier with wheel still on.
undo 6 8mm 12pts bolts on diff for axle - Done
remove -this is where the problem starts.
replace.- Will tom as soon as the inner flange releases. I sprayed some Wd and will let set for a while. Hope that works.
Easy.- the other side was.

I have a Cv shaft lined up for $50 bucks. Which is why i am taking the shaft off today so i can have it done by lunch time tom. However before i buy it i got to make sure that mine is gone. It is let go at the inner joint, in the way that the flange will turn while in gear but not the shaft. However the shaft isn't in two pieces and still packed with grease so can't really see until get it off. There is a retaining clip that holds it all together right? HAs this caused problems with anybody else. i mean if this lets go or breaks is it possible to have occur what i am describing?

Once the 6 bolts are off, the joint should come off fairly easy from the flange shoulder. Its a close fit but should come off with a tap using a rubber malet or a piece of wood and hammer.

Yeha i know i did the otherside a month ago and it pretty fell off with a little tug on the shaft once the bolts were removed. Now this side is a fiferant story.I tried taping but no go. Lets see if the WD 40 helps as its raining now anyway. I am hoping it is just corrosion. I will update tom.
Thanks.

US speak - half shaft or axle shaft

Everywhere else (almost) - drive shaft
