Here's the mosnter box-o-goodies that FedEx dropped off today. Even I was unprepared for the size of this box, let alone the part-count of all the pieces inside. There's 6 major pieces in this box along with maybe 5-6 dozen bags of parts consisting of literally hundreds and hundreds of small individual pieces. I am nowhere near prepared for the breadth and scope of this installation as there's just so many many pieces involved. I was even stuck for an answer trying to assemble the RS2 grill due to the sheer volume of bags & bags of mounting screws, washers, nut, bolts and a myriad of other types of fasteners. Not wanting to make any mistakes and use fasteners I might need later I did the next best thing... took the RS2 front bumper with headlight sparyers, S2 rear bumper, RS2 Grill surround piece and RS2 mirrors over to the paint shop for a complete Y3HL (laser red) paint job, complete with flex agent, color sanding and clear-coating. They'll be done and ready for me to pick up on Friday. Meanwhile I'll try to make some sense of the daunting task of getting every fastener figured out via Euro ETKA.
RS2 belly pan is totally unlike the standard belly pan we have on our cars. It's glass reinforced, incredibly rigid and lends a TON of structural integrity/support to the RS2 bumper which as you might guess from all it's open area is quite "flimsy" compared the stock bumpers. I cant even begin to imgine how flimsy that RS2 bumper with the license plate cut-out for the upper inter-cooler area must be. If I hadnt ordered the RS2 belly pan with my RS2 bumper there's no way I'd install it without benefit of the matching belly pan after seeing it. I've got a strong gut hunch thats why that RS2 bumper that was sold recently was broken/cracked at it's wheel well mounting points. IMHO the belly pan is not an option with an RS2 bumper... its a NECESSITY!! Now the quest is on to find all the Dzus flush-mount fasteners I'm going to use to mount the bellypan to the bumper and the car chassis mounting points before the weekend. And it doesnt bode well that it takes 13 to do the entire bumper/pan/chassis mounting points. Think I'll be a little superstitious and order 14.
I'll post another pic shortly just to show how complex at initial glance this entire job appears when you open the box and lay out all the mounting hardware/fasteners, washers, etc etc, ad infinitum.
