I need rotors and pads (shocking!) but the one guy I had look at it said I needed new calipers too. I didn't think to ask why at the time because I'm stupid. Could someone give me an idea why the calipers might need replaced? Yes, I know you can't tell me why MINE do, but I'm trying to figure out if I need to have another guy look at it instead. ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Most mechanics these days won't bother to rebuild calipers but just stab in re-manufactured units. That's lazy but from the mechanics point of view it makes sense. He takes no risk installing new ones, it's all money in his pocket.
A caliper should only be replaced if a rebuild fails. That's typically if the piston or the bore has had moisture sitting in it and has corrosion that can't be polished out. Rebuild kits are only a couple of $$.
Having said that, if you have the single piston stock calipers you might want to look at going to a G60 dual piston caliper. You can get used G60 calipers and carriers, a rebuild kit and new rotors and pads for less than the cost of new single piston rotors.

The MC from a Coupe is a nice plus but not needed. When I did mine I added SS lines but if the stockers are OK that's not a requirement either.

although I believe it can be done by using a faily thick spacer (5-6mm). That's too thick for my blood...
