Default The Cabriolet is getting a 5 speed-

Hey guys. I had a talk with my cabriolet today, while I was pulling the block out (another fun story there too) and she told me that her automatic was just not putting out enough for her... Long story short, after the few hours I spent this evening pulling the block up and out, I decided it would be the perfect oppurtunity to transplant the auto (code CLP) with a 5 speed (code CAC)... I'm going to go for the CAC, (92 100 and 93, 94 Audi 90 5speed)... It would be fairly easy to transplant. I've still got most of my crashed 90Q clutch system, minus the pedals which I will need, and everything else will be taken on one thing at a time. I anticipate adding the pedals and master cylinder to the firewall will be one of the hardest tasks, because it looks like the cabrio has a little different undercarriage where the firewall meets the driver side carpeting. I would like to transplant a 6speed, the 20vt is probably not realistic right now. I don't know of other trans options that will couple with the 2.8 V6, but would definitely enjoy a 5 or 6 speed with a little better gearing.

I would overall end up saving money on the project- I'm figuring I can round up the remaining parts I need for $400 (transmission, pedals, speed sensor (which was missing in the first place)and other misc parts)... Perhaps a bit more for a lower mileage 5speed.. Carparts lowest 5speed was 300$. My CLP (Cabrio trans) is worth about $1200.

What would YOU do in my situation??

I'll post some pics of progress as soon as I get another digital camera, mine decide to take a dive on my kitchen floor.

Default Entire pedal assembly simply "bolts-in"! ;O)
