Default Any stored DTC's? Coolant temp sensor G62 is ok?, Worn ignition switch?

Note: This has not been my experience, just where I would begin to look.

Default i have no codes at all

i pulled out the ignition switch and jumped the terminals controling the ignition system. i went ahead and changed it anyways. how would the coolant temp sensor stop it from starting? i know there is a seperate sensor on the right rear side of the engine that looks like a coolant sensor as well. which one feeds the temp guage. i have put in new crank and cam sensors, RMP sensor in bout 5months ago cus i had a code for intermnt faults and it run fine for a while.

Default Re: coolant sensor G62 (ECT)...I only recall reading of that posibility here (see link)...

<center><img src="http://www.12v.org/engine/images/rear.gif"></center><p>...and again IIRC, while the G62 works with the ECU; the F76 (MFTS) works with the T-gauge, and A/C (hence the "Multi-Function" moniker).

I don't believe this (below) is correct, however:

<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/12v/msgs/56164.phtml">functional coolant temp sensor required to start engine apparently...</a></li></ul>

Default

My mechanic calls it the "multi-malfunction temp sensor."
