Did you mess with the timing belt?

Default when my hall sensor went and left my car dead in the middle of an intersection here in NYC...

i had no choice but to have it towed to the dealer to pull the code, and they insisted on checking the timing belt since it had been replaced only a month previous.
Turned out the belt was fine, and the sensor was shot, which apparently is common on the 12Vs...but a failed sensor will leave the car completely dead if I'm not mistaken.
Good luck to your friend!
