in most cars when you take the key out, the radio shuts off. is this because the power to the radio is cut? i have this face which is suppose to flip around for security reasons. but since the radio always has power it dosent do this. So i was sondering if i could just wire the negative to an extra say fog light switch to cut the power to the radio. and if i do this will the radio still ahve enough power in (the resistors?) to flip the face?

say I am driving and listening to the radio then I park and turn my car off, the radio will still keep playing, so I just hit the off button and it turns off and also retracts the antenna. Your security face plate will rotate when you turn the radio off of course. as for the wiring, that I have no idea, I bought a factory harness, matched the colors and bingo, my jvc deck still plays great after the 5 years or so I have had it.

i can turn it off fine, but the face wont flip around, because the back side is solid, no buttons or anything (i guess to make it look like you took the face out), so it wont flip around cuz there is no way to get it to flip back. i havent had a problem with it but i was just thinking its something i might do in case i have to park my car in a not so friendly neighborhood.

I know the cameleon by jvc has that setup and when you turn the power button off it automatically flips around making it look like a blank space.

you can run a wire from the switched (yellow) wire on your head unit to a switched source in the fusebox such as your horn, headlights, climate control, etc...anything that shuts off when you turn the key off.
So your wiring would be:
Head unit red wire ----> wiring harness red wire
Head unit yellow wire ---> fusebox switched source
So your wiring would be:
Head unit red wire ----> wiring harness red wire
Head unit yellow wire ---> fusebox switched source
