Default Can't get O2 sensor off. Need help!

'91 90 20vq

The sensor is just before the cat (not downpipe), but i can't manage to fit a socket or wrench over the back of the sensor. anyone else have this problem? will i have to take it to a muffler shop and have them drop the cat out to change it?

so you can't get a 22mm open-end wrench on it, or the special 22mm O2 sensor socket on it? Those are about the only two things that'll fit on it.

Also, read on the 20v.org site for O2 sensor changing on the 20v cars.

Default Cut the top off a closed wrench

What you're describing, seems like the same thing in the coupe's. Use the 22mm closed end. But Dremel the top. Take out a .25 to .5 inch out of the top. This will allow you to slide it in around the wires, then slide down to the bolt. The open end is to thick to get into the bolt, so this fits nicely. Hope it helps

Default Visual Aids (hopefully)

I'm following the 20.org directions. The only problem is, the space is not long enough for me to fit the O2 specific socket over the back of the plug. It seems like most people have done this themselves, so i might just need to find the right entry angle to get it on. maybe?

Put an open end wrench on the end of the socket, or just a 22mm open end on the sensor itself...

Default No need to "cut" simply thread wire through! ;O)

Its got a connector at the other end of the wire, which you can thread it through the end of the wrench! :O)
