Default Car broke down.................... :-(

Was on the highway cruising about 70mph all of a sudden I hear a weird noise, I loose power and engine starts to drop rpms and dies.

My first thought is the timing belt. But the belt is not broken and the engine turns when I turn the key on but it doesn't start. It sounds like it's off timing. Could it be that the timing belt jumped or could it be something else?

Thanks for the help

Default no start troubleshoot, first check spark, 2nd check fuel

pull out a plug and see if it goes when cranking. then check if fuel is going in.

and more specific for audi, check vaccum hoses, if a vaccum hose suddenly blew u can detonate (the sound) and engine will die and cannot start.

this should be enough for now.

Default Check the valve timing

sounds like you might have lost a bunch of teeth off the timing belt.
