Default carbon fiber hood owners: carbon fiber prep/care?

A few months ago i hit a deer in my 94 90. there was little damage, only a cracked headlight and crinkled hood (the deer jumped right before i hit it) i ordered a fiber images carbon fiber hood from ubernugen and recieved it a few days ago. i was planning on installing it this afternoon but had a few questions first. i tried the fiber images faq section on their website but it is down and no one is there to answer the phone on saturday. i've read recomendations that carbon fiber be clearcoated. is the hood clear coated already? should i clear coat it? did any of you? do i care for it the same way i would the stock hood? wash once a week or so, and wax occasionally? recomendations for keeping the hood in good shape? any other thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. TIA guys.

Default Normal care as if painted. No abrasive cleaners or paper towels...

finish is already an epoxy surface which you'd have a hard time duplicating its hardness/durability unless another 2-part catalyzed coating was used. All other normal wash/wax regimen applies.

Default Remove the OEM hood strut....

Also, do not slam the hood down, or close it like you would the steel hood. Simply set it down on the latch's, then evenly press down, near the front, and on a solid section, to close.

Enjoy! ;O)

Default I'm working on a dual-mount 3lb struts to get back to a "slow-lift" hood...

I'm not liking the portable "prop-rod" idea.

Default I was just going to adapt either a VW prop rod or a 4k/80 prop rod...

Should be able to find either/both in a yard not too far from me.
