Default Update. (Not so long, but still wordy)

So, he read my novel here, and replied. He's offering some larger 7A MAF if that'll make me pipe down.

My first thought was, "Dude, if you had a MAF lying around that you were willing to ship for free, why the hell didn't you do that in the very first place?!?"

That might have worked before we got to the "ship everything back for a (somewhat) full refund" stage of this misbegotten "deal." Probably would have, in fact. I would not have been happy, but I would have been satisfied that I got *most* of what I actually purchased. Hell, at that point, an extra $40 and he wouldn't have heard from me again. Nor would any of you...

So here's the deal *I* offered:

He refunds me $120. I ship back to him all but the headlamps. This means that I will have paid $140 for $80 headlamps, and more out of pocket to ship the rest of the stuff back to him.

A crappy deal for me, to be sure. But I *did* agree to the original $300, so that gold-plated shipping is on me, and only me. I suspect that the additional shipping also includes some handling charges, you know?

But he's only got 24 hours from the time I sent the e-mail. So YFF have to wait until about 4PM Pacific tomorrow to either find out who he is, or you won't, ever. I *will* keep my end of any deal I make. But, I have warned him that if ever I hear of a bad deal he does to any other Audi guy, I'll out him.

I very seriously appreciate the offers here and in private to help me out with my parts hassle. I have always thought well of the older-style Audi owners and communities. Other than this dude, the guys here have been pretty damn terrific.

Thanks.

Default Final update. (edit)

Well, as Peter predicted, the guy didn't come through.

I didn't think he would, either.

So, as I promised, I will name him.

Since I have kept the whole e-mail trail, I will make it available for anyone who wishes to see it. Also, I have name and location, also via e-mail.

If he wants to make his case, he certainly can, and should. I don't have any problem taking my lumps if have made mistakes, and I'll let folks point those out as they wish.

My reply to the (deleted) post that started this all.
