so i have the option to get a 6 spd tranny (assuming the guy still has it) and was curious on any major advantages or disadvantages of both. the gear ratios arent too far off, but yet, i dont know enough about them to really call it. any help would be great, since if the guy still has it, i might buy it tonight (thursday) here are a couple links to ratios/info:

also, I think somethink on the 01E CGR would need to be machined off by 2-3mm....but it would definitely be hot.

For the same price, look for a DSY like skolnick found, that has the widend, hardened 1st gear.
You will also need S2 frton half shafts and RS2/S2 shift linkages.

Here is all you ever wanted to know about Audi 01E's.

...and would i have to go through europrice to get them or are there matching parts that came on say the urs'? with that, what kind of other costs am i looking at on top of the tranny price?
and Yumy, if you saw the ad (which im sure you did) the price cant really be beat, i could turn around and ask twice as much for it and still be cheaper than 2bennett

those are about the maximum you'd want to pay for those items...they can obviously be had for cheaper...and the halfshafts can be had second hand, and would save you lots. CVs should be new though.

from the seller (whom is very well known with his completely converted coupe to euro-spec s2):
"The tranny will bolt right up to your
early Coupe. I've bought two transmissions in Germany. I installed one in my Audi Coupe and the second one is for sale."

because i am *almost* certain one would need those parts to convert the tranny.
I've been researching putting a b5 s4 tranny in mine, and they are very very similar.

Tranny supports are different because you have a B3. The S2 was essentially a B4, so it has the same tranny support as, say, my car.
I looked at etka, and you can use the inner CVs from a UrS6, but you'd still need the longer axles/half-shafts.
