The check engine light on my '93 90CS (120K mi) comes on during hard acceleration after the engine is warm. When I shut off the car, it goes out and doesn't come back on until hard acceleration. My gas mileage also seems to have dropped slightly, but it may be because of having the AC on most of the time. The check engine light situation started early this summer when the weather got hot.

Could this be a symptom of bad oxygen sensors? I know I need to bring it to my mechanic for him to pul any stored codes, but I'd like to have some ideas what may be wrong before I bring it to the mechanic. Any ideas??

How old are your 02's? Audi say's change'm every 60,000. ;O)

I bought the car 30k miles ago. Don't know if they have ever been changed; maybe not.

I noticed the crappier the gas the more thing seem not to work as often. I had a weord oxygen sensor problem too. I steam cleaned the engine and it seem to go away after that. Could be couple things.
