Clutch slipping....
I was going about 15mph and had to accelerate fast, so I shifted down to first and floored it. The rpms went up, but the car wasn't pulling at all. The same thing happened when I shifted to 2nd.
Do I need a new clutch? I have also had a screeching/metal rubbing sound when I push my clutch in on cold starts. What's going on? Thanks!
Mike

Re: Clutch slipping....
Can you induce the slip again & again repeatedly?
If so then you clutch or its hydraulic actuating system may need attention.
The screeching/metal rubbing is probably the throw-out bearing which has lost its lube.
With the above 2 symptoms, your probably looking at a clutch job to fix.

Can you smell anything? (more)
When your clutch slips, you should be able to smell a distinct odour from your clutch (the clutch material 'burning). By what you've described, you definately need to replace the clutch.
