Default Common brake system pressure issues?

1990 90Q20V.

I recently replaced the high pressure power steering line to the pump, when it blew I lost power steering and brake assist. Lately I'm getting crappy brake performance again, though. The dash brake light will come on with any sort of pressure to the pedal and eventually go off when the brakes aren't used. I'd say I've only got about 60% of the brakes I should have normallt. There's no leaks on the high pressure side of the power steering anymore but I do have a slow leak somewhere around the acuumulator that I'm still tracking down. Would this cause poor braking performance as well?

Brake fluid is topped up and clean, pads and rotors are all good. The soft brake lines are aftermarket stainless braided lines and not leaking at all.

Ideas? Thanks folks.

Have you bled the brakes lately? Do they pulse, feel hard, or feel soft?

Default maybe . . .

you have air in the system? Did you bleed the brakes once you repaired that hose? Did you follow a specific order when bleeding them? Shortest line first ending with the longest. Or maybe there is water/condensation in the lines?

Default Re: maybe . . .

To clarify the line that went was the high pressure power steering line, not a brake line. That system was bled properly. (Filled, cranked the wheel with the cap off, filled, repeated. Shouldn't be any air in that system.)

When that line was shot and there wasn't enough power steering pressure the brakes were nearly 100% unassisted, now there should be full pressure on that side (Though there's a slow leak on the low pressure side by the accumulator) and the brakes are at 70% or so, hence the question.

The brake fluid is relatively fresh and there shouldn't be any air in the system, I haven't had the bleeders off/open since the brakes were 100% and there's no fluid leaks on the braking side.
