Default Continuing low oil pressure problem

Having problems with my oil pressure on cold starts and after leaving the car for more than an hour.

On starting the car the autocheck flashes an oil warning and my oil pressure gauge also shows zero pressure. The oil pressure finally raises and operates normally after the engine is given a burst of revs past 2000rpm.

I have replaced the non-return valves and the pressure valves in the heads but still no luck. The oil level is within limits. The only thing that is diffrent than usual is the ambient temperatures being colder now it's winter.

Short of replacing the oil pump I can't see what is causing this problem.

Did you pull the oil pan for a look at the pick-up tube?
