after engine running for a while, coolant level is close to MAX. Usually the following morning, it dips to LOW. Where have all my coolant gone?

Air in the system maybe? but engine is idling smoothly all day long.

Mine does the same.... it expands a good deal after it heats up

I'd say as long as it's not above MAX when warm or below LOW when cold it's fine
