Default Congratulations on the heater core! ;O)

50/50 mix is a good starting point.

You can try 60(water)/40, but keep an eye out for rust within your coolant system? It may not develop until 70/30? ;O)

Default Re: COOLANT question

I have heard good things about Zerex coolant personally. If I'm lazy I throw in the Peak pre-made 50/50 (in my SHO). Not the best though.

Be warned, even in warmer climates, using straight water can still freeze in the radiator.

Re: 50/50 and use Audi coolant. Yeah, you can use others, but .... why not use what's made for it.?

Default one more thing I forgot, Distil or not to distil

Hey thanks Miktip, one more thing I forgot to ask. Should I use only distilled water as I have heard it doesn't cause any rusting or is regular tap water fine?

Thanks.

Default Well........

regular tap water has everything in it your could imagine! Including chlorine, and a host of of other chemicals ! YuK!

So distilled, wont actually prevent rust, as rust is caused by an elements reaction oxygen. Water, H2O, contains oxygen.

Distilled has many of the tap water contaminents removed. Its basically "cleaner" water. ;O)
