Default The correct MIL spec GL 5 Synthetic gear lube for our rear differentials.

There has been much debate on if the Redline synthetic 75/90W gear oil, and its API GL4 rating. The bentley calls for a GL5 SAE 90 that conforms to MIL-L-2105-B, which has been replaced numerous times now it is refered to as MIL-PRF-2105-E. There are numerous oils out there that conform to this spec. One of them is this one...

Long Life Synthetic Gear Lube SAE 75W-90 (FGR)

While we're on the topic of lube...

The 01A transmission calls for VW P/N G 005 000. This P/N matches the specs for an amsoil GL 4 by the name of "Synthetic Manual Transmission and Transaxle
Gear Lube 75W-90 API GL-4" Just MTG for short.

Also, reline has a match for the transmission simply called MT-90.<ul><li><a href="http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/fgr.aspx">AMSOIL FGR</a></li></ul>
