Default Could a faulty ignition switch cause VAG communication issues?

The car is a 94 Cab. It runs great, but communication with the VAG is spotty at best. I've never had success communicating with the airbag module.

Thanks in advance.<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/418369.phtml">https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/418369.phtml</a</li></ul>

Default Ignition switchs are crap on the 90's and Cabbies, but I've never heard...

it interfering with the VAG. Best to get a hold of the wiring schematics from a Bentley Manual too diagnose your problem.

Default I've got the Bentley. I disconnected all of the K wires from their

terminal to see which one was shorted to +12 volts. I was surprised to see that almost all of them were over 10 volts. Ross-Tech says they should read between 1 and 9 volts.

I started looking for something all the systems/modules have in common. I swapped instrument clusters, no change. Now I'm thinking ignition switch.

If anyone can think of anything else don't be shy.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'd love for it to be a cheap fix.

Default As a matter of fact...yes

Just had a mkIV Golf where we thought it was the connector or even the connector on the VAG-com so we tried another unit and it did the same thing.

To make a long story short we noticed some other odd acc issues, so we rpelaced the switch and the VAG-com started to work.

Default Interesting. . . I picked up a switch at my local dealer yesterday.

I'll install it tonight and see if it solves my problem. . . I'll share my findings here, and maybe on the VAG forum as well.
