Default CQ: Those with custom exhaust/mufflers...and kittys...

1. Has anyone installed an aftermarket catalytic converter, if so what size and is it cost worthy? I have a gutted cat and need to install a new one, but don't wanna spend meellions...I have a few quotes for used ones but all >$100. I was thinking of finding a universal one the right size to weld in place of the existing one (using the front flange and rear pipe length.

2. The center muffler of my Scorpion is raspy as hell and way too loud. I had the stock section in, but it has since rotted apart. Has anyone installed an aftermarket muffler in place of the center. If so, what rear muffler are you using and how's the sound?

I'm looking for the Brullen sound, but track/weekend car funds are lacking. :P
Thanks, y'all.

Hoping to 'insert CQ here' shortly.

Default Whats i didz....

1. I have a single 3 inch catco cat
2. 2.5 inch hushpower 2 middle/resonator muffler with remus end muffler.

I do have 12v and 272 cams, so idleing its mumbly and kind loud but i don't think so to much. Crusing at any speed is pretty quiet untill you step on the pedal, duh. But i have gotten many envious remarks from many mustang owners and oddly porsche people too, and ofcourse many other people. Ill make a you tube video of it some day

Looks like over the past week or two this has been the hot topic. Guess it's getting to that age..

I did a 18" magnaflow cat in the place for the stock cat. About $55 online.

And it fit? Is that with custom piping to the downpipe and center muffler pipe?

Default I'll take a look for you. I just had my muffler guy do it and I went and grabbed a coffee.

Came back in 30 minutes and it was done. Charged me $30.

Which exhaust manifold is on your coupe?

Default I have the header, just like yours should have. :)

The header then has the short downpipe and the 4-bolt flange to the cat, then a slip joint to the center muffler pipe, etc.

I know of a local shop if I don't feel like doing it myself and the price is right...$30 would be great.

The car is going to be a weekend/track car, so I'd like it to sound sporty, just not obnoxiously loud/raspy like it is now...and I'm cheap. :P

Default Sounds about right. I had the flange hacked off so I didn't have to worry much about exact fit

In fact...pretty much all of the flanges on the cat-back are gone too. If any of it has to come off, I'll have to break out the sawzall

Default another muffler question, Got Flowmaster?

Anyone on here ever done a flowmaster settup, I like the sound of them just wanted to know if they're to loud.

I recall a 3-chamber one on a 5000 turbo quattro in my youth...sounded good, but that's w/ a turbo.
