<center><img src="http://i303.photobucket.com/albums/nn137/type44quattro/IMG_0156.jpg"></center><p>Had a chance to get under the car today and check some things out, found out some more things:
1. Car had a really hard time starting, found the crankcase breather hose collapsed and had a good sized hole in it. 034 has a silicon replacement, and Worldpac has a metal one. As I really only want to get in there once, looks like the metal one is the way to go, anyone have experience with the metal one? Fitment okay?
2. Some idiot must have over tightened the h*ll out of the oil drain plug, even with the breaker bar on it I couldn't break it loose (but had it up on ramps so I didn't have a lot of leverage). Gonna have to take it to some place with a lift and an airgun, fun.
3. The A/C lines are original OE 18 year old spiral wound hoses, anybody know of a good source for quality replacement hoses? I don't want to get a good compressor on it charged up with $$$$ R12 and have a hose blow (yes I have a couple of cans of R12 stashed away).
and the most interesting thing...
4. Where is the heater valve located? On the drive back, it was in the mid 90's, but we discovered _hot_ air coming out of the vents. I think the heater valve is stuck wide open judging by the heat coming out. My 5ktq has the heater valve in the engine compartment, I'm guessing the valve is in the cabin since the heater hoses to the firewall did not have a valve on them?
I have searched the archives and have looked on MG as well. Sorry so long but any BTDT's would be greatly appreciated.

It seems to work good and will never collapse.
As for the heater valve. If you have an early '90 production car there isn't one. My car didn't come with one either. All I have is a blue pulg on the firewall that would connect to the temp sensor located on the vacuum operated valve.
Explain these A/C lines you speak of. When I removed my A/C (Minnesota) I had standard hard lines. They looked like the stuff used one cars today...

I don't think there are OE replacements but you can check with your local hydraulic shops(anywhere that makes custom hydraulic hoses) and see if they have anything or know of places that would have something rated for A/C. Just make sure to take the old line for comparison.
If you do happen to find OE replacements let me know please. I've been looking to get my A/C working again.

1/ Get the metal one. It's a proven piece. Put it on & forget it.
2/ I would hazard to guess that a Jiffi-Lube or one of those 5 minute oil change joints must have ham-fisted the thing in.
Be careful how you take the damn thing out...you don't want to have to buy an oil pan. Get a good breaker bar , preferably a long one and put a good sturdy pipe onto it and slowly turn. You will feel it let go. Then throw the damn plug out and get a Futomoto(sp?) oil valve.
3/ Don't waste your time with R12. Just get the whole damn thing overhauled and cleaned out of R12 and have R134 put it in and forget it. Money well spent.
4/ It may not be your heater valve even if you could access it. It is most likely the vacuum valve controlling the shutter has gone either bye-bye or it is stuck. Get the Bentley Manual for the car & read how to access the codes from the control head.

There are a couple of places online that will make new lines. All you need to do is tell them the model data. Google A/C hose repair
Or locally you may have a place that repairs/sells hydraulic lines? Most will either repair or make you new lines pretty cheap. I just had a turbo water coolant line repaired for a 5ktq and it cost me all of $3.00

I put in heater control valve from a '91 200 from autohausaz because I taped my flap door open. I'm gutting my Auto climate control for a home brew manual system.
