Default cv joint removal

i did read the writeup on how to do it, but i still have a quick question. the only thing that holds the outer cv joint on is a circlip? so once you use the bolt to pull it off to put it back on you just need to use a plastic hammer to tap it on? doesnt seem as hard as it looks, hopefully.

Default

after you have it out of the hub, put the bolt back in and tighten it till it pops off.

Default got it, now to put it back on?

put a new circlip on then just tap it on with a soft hammer till it "snaps" onto the ring and your home free?
I am debating whether i want to removed the entire shaft or if i can work on it with my strut assembly in the way
