Default Dammit, aint it always the way!?! Not a friggin Sparco Modena CF seat in-stock...

in any color at Sparco USA and none showing at even one of their US Distributors.

6-8 weeks to get one in via normal shipping at no up-charge or expedited shipping at $400+ per seat from Italy. Yeah, that'll happen!

I was a candidate at $3500 per seat if I could get one quickly. But I'm likely not a player at $4k per seat to get one within 2 weeks or at $3500 in 2 months. And Sparco USA is not apt to start stocking them anytime soon due to cost and a VERY sluggish American response to them (5 CF seats total sold to-date in the US this year and 4 of those by Sparco USA at discounted prices after having many people sit in them in their showroom).

Default I havent seen an ultra-light CF Status 2-part seat with lumbar support in a 2-piece configuration

got a link? And I've heard Status seats are "re-badged" Netami seats with a few extras available. Netami is Japanese and a VERY tight fit for a 6ft/200lb American.

And "cheaper" is not as important as "best" since I'm insisting on FIA/TUV Homologation certification on any seat I choose to go with. Tho I woulda preferred $6k or less for the pair it just aint looking like that is a very realistic number thats likely to happen given my list of "must-haves."

Default Yeah, I've heard nightmares of those seats narrow confines and angled harness bores...

allowing harnesses to cut into people's shoulders and prevent the shoulder harnesses from lying flat on people's shoulders.

Doesnt instill a lot of warm-fuzzies in me about giving Status seats a bunch of my money.

I've got someone working on some more specs and info on the Modena seats at Speedware Motorsports and he's working so hard to please me I dont think I can help but let him have a good chunk of my disposeable money. He's done some MAJOR sucking up for me and I think I'll reward hm appropriately soon as he gets me a little more info which he promised tomorrow. Guy is actually going to call Turin Italy and get me "exact" weights on the Modena in CF and FG as all anyone has now is published "shipping" weights. The he'll take a FG Modena out of the box and compare it to one of the FG Modenas he has in stock. If weight is less than 10-12lbs for both seats between FG/CF I'll compromise and take the FG shells and make up for the weight by CNCing titanium mounting brackets. If the weight is more than 10-12lbs for the pair (5-6lbs per seat) I'll go ahead and special-order a CF Modena from him.

Default Spending $3,500 on a seat is nothing short of retarded. Ever think of going on a diet? I bet you

could loose 20-25lbs of that 200lbs and it wouldn't cost you much of anything. It would also be healthy for you, imagine that?

Default To fit that seat within any semblence of comfort I'd have to be 5'7" and 135lbs. aint gonna happen!!

and I'm actually only 192/193 but over the winter I'll shoot to 200 then back down to 180/185 over the summer. Been the same for over 40 years. But its only retarded if "you" spend $3500 per seat. Certainly isnt for me to do it.

Default That's why there is vanilla and chocolate. In fact, 31 flavors last I heard.

I have spent an inordinate amount of money on my 1995! But, that's because I want to and I am at a point in my life where I can.
Logically, why would I spend $5,000.00 on a BBK, wheels, & tires on an 11 year old car?
Why? Because I am driving my dream car.
It may not be your dream car, but it certainly is mine!
I will probably keep this car another 10 years, if it does not get in a wreck first.
I am with you, Mance!

I was surprised in the 1-peice seats the carbon vs fiber weight diff was 7.5lbs. I guessed less.
