dead tach in the 88

this is a first, I never had the tach just up and die in this car since its pretty simple. Unless just out of the blue the cable broke or the gear sheered off I have no idea.
I thought I'd give it some love today so I yank off both rear tires to check the ancient calipers only to find yet again both pins on both sides were pretty well frozen solid.
From the looks of the right outer pad it has been like that for a bit as the pad wore at a slight angle.
clean, re-lube, install yet again.
Both front and rear mufflers have holes in them where the inlet pipe meets. I just replaced both maybe 5 years ago. I can shake the rear muffler and it sounds like it has a pound of sand inside.
