dealer$hip labor rates are up again
For fun I called to see what the 6 hour TB overhaul costs now.
$520 bucks or $86/hr
A good local place that is picking up business from the dealership and has done many TB changes charges $225 for labor.
Usually leery of non dealer for major stuff but at 1/2 the price I am sure they will do just as well of a job, its not really difficult just time consuming if you have the right tools.
Yeah I could rent the tool but I have nowhere to do it inside and with so much dust in the air having the engine open is not a great idea.
If this was a 2nd car I would give it a shot but its my main driver.

dealer once quoted me $800+ in labour for a heater core. (and said multiple techs needed)
I've since done two heater core jobs on my own. Average is 6.5 hours including some breaks.

less then 10 bucks?
good to know although I have 3 keys so I should never need any blanks.
an extra FOB for the auto unlock would be nice but those are like 80+ bucks or something.
the PN on mine is 10 bucks at worldimpex, something is wrong as there is no way the blank with sensor is that price.

musa been Autohaus Barrie. They once quoted me 1000$ just to open the hood on my 90.
then all the parts and labour on top to do a T.B. job.
woah. I got half way out the door when one of the techs (good friend of mine) stopped me and gave me the card of the exact tech who would be doing the job at the dealership. Hooked up with him for a side job. I supplied the parts, he charged me 140$ in labour.
