Dealership clampdown on ETKA copies ?
Phoned through to my local Audi stealership for a few parts and stated the part name and number which was quickly cross referenced and verified for the model, age and engine of my specific car on the parts system database, the employee then asked:
"Can I ask you where you got that part number?"
- huh?
Made an excuse that someone emailed me the number and ordered the parts.
Perhaps they are waiting for someone to slip-up and say "it's on this CD I've got" or "I found it on this certain website"
Offical sales of the VWAudi ETKA parts library at their lowest?

aren't p/n's stamped on parts?
And so what if you got the p/n from some other source like a cd or a site. it makes their job easier so I'd just tell them to get the parts and kiss my ****..

Re: Dealership clampdown on ETKA copies ?
I just left the Audi dealership and the parts guy there had never heard of these disks being available. He said that their computers have a special chip on them so his disks wont work on regular computers???? But he was interested in getting one if they were available. He didn't seem upset at all. Of course he had just finished ringing me up for $130 of nuts, bolts and seals. Why should they care, their going to charge you whatever they want to.

they require a "hardlock" adapter on the serial port...
...which is basically a chip that's in the adapter that tells ETKA it's legit...of course someone has "fixed" them before we get them....
