Does anybody know where I could find an alternator rebuild kit?

Rebuilding your own isn't tough, but when you add the massive costs of individual parts + labor + no warranty, that equals so not worth it. Only time I recommend rebuilding any part of an alternator is if front or rear bearings go out, which on most domestic vehicles, involves a 10.00 bearing and about 30 minutes. Other than that, it's better to go with the piece of mind of a professional rebuilder and a warranty.

at the battery cables. Often they develop corrision, and do not allow the full voltage to flow through them. Make sure the battery terminal clamps are tight and corrision free. Find out how old the battery is. Old lead-acid batteries can & will develop problems.
