Drive axle removal?

Drive axle removal?
The CV joint and rubber boot are toast. I'm replacing entire drive axle and need to know the best way to......
1/Drive the axle out of the wheel bearing housing.
2/Is it best to unhook the wheel bearing housing from the strut and turn to the side to get the axle out?
3/ Do I need to torque down the CV bolts with the axle nut torqued down first or vice versa?
Thanks & Happy Holidays

Re: Drive axle removal?
I shouldn't take much to drive it out of the hub. Remove the ball joint at the bottom and swing the suspension to the side to get clearance to get the joint out of the hub.

you need..
The only tough part is removing the axel bolt and the inner joint from the trans. after that it is easy, the outer CV joint should easily slide out of the hub. You *shouldn't* need to remove the control arm if you remove the inner joint first. Make sure to look at Bentley for the correct torques on each bolt when installing. Also the ones on the inner joint are a 12 (i think) star configuration torque, should check that first and get those tools if you need them.
Also for a note, If you loosen the wheel bearing housing you might risk the need to re-alignment.
