I really don't know where to begin. If I'm at a stop light and the brake pedal is engaged when the lights are on the left blinker light comes on steady as it should as well as ther rear tail light. When I take my foot off the brake pedal those lights go off. The actual blinker (turn indicator) function still works with or without the brake pedal. Has anyone ever heard of this problem?
Almost forgot I have a 91 Audi 80 non quattro.

when I got my first 90q, if you stepped on the brakes, the running lights all turned on (including dash lights). Turned out someone had put a single-filament brake light in the dual-socket for the brake/tail light.

Right where the harness pivots at the hinge. The wires fatigue and rub against each other. Make a very close inspection because it might just be a very small crack that lets this happen.
