Default I've tried another known good ECU, and nothing happened.
Don't judge a book by its cover. But, if you want to waste even more money, go ahead. Try the coolant temp sensor before the ECU, much cheaper, and it will be my next target.

Default Mechanic has already ruled out the coolant temp sensor
Do all cars have as many sensors as these Audis?

I thought you were going to replace the distributor next.
