External Audio Connector for 96 Audi Cab Delta CC
I would like to connect an audio source to my Audi Delta CC radio. I know that there is a connection to wire the radio control an external Alpine CD changer, but I want to also be able to hook up to an IPOD. Don't need external controls or display, just a clean audio in. Any ideas?

On a stock radio you would need a RF modulator
it converts the audio signal into a radio signal and then you just turn to a specific radio station and the signal comes through only on that channel.
Its a crude electronic device, most don't work perfectly.
You can remove the stock radio and put in an aftermarket, it won't affect the alarm system and I am pretty sure you can buy an adapter harness so you won't need to cut your factory harness.

Re: On a stock radio you would need a RF modulator
Thanks for the input. I want to stay away from the RF Mod, as that will degrade the signal (CDOutput >> Radio Waves >> Audio) Each step inflicts losses and noise. I'm going to check Azeems suggestion. It shouldn't be that hard. All that needs to be done is fool the Delta CC that there is a CD player connected, and apply the feed to the correct pins.
Another solution that just occured to me is to find the CD changer on ebay (there is only ONE that will work) and then two-way switch the audio input from an aux jack and the CD changer. That would be the best of both worlds. Drop me a line if anybody has a Audi OEM 6-disc CD changer (part # 8D0 035 111 or 4D0 035 111) to sell. email is explore _at_ gmail _dot_ com

Keep in mind on a Delta radio that it's not a standard Alpine plug although it's identical to a...
...Alpine internally (IE if you use the pinout for a similar Alpine it won't work - there's something in the Audi version which isn't in the Alpine).

Thanks for the tip, SCarG02, didn't know that. Has anybody out there successfully built the adapter referenced by Azeem for the audi Delta CC?

As of when I had my '96 A4 & A6q ('99-'01) no...you had to get a OE Audi-branded Alpine changer.
...Bilzsafe (sp) always said they were going to release one (to use a normal Alpine with the Delta headunit), but as far as I know, never did.
