Default front ball joint complications

in attempt to replace my CV boots on the driver side, the ball joint bolt came out, axle bolt came out.

the ball joint won't detatch fron the hub even when there is no screw

solution?

i tried torching then hammering, PB spray and hammer, screw driver and hammer, and just hammer.
it won't drop out. i tried prying the arm down with a big pipe against the sub frame and the ball joint pulls the entire strut down (ball joint bolt is off)

btw everything is now back together as there are new years eve errands i have to run.

Default Your spending all this time messing with 1 ball joint?

Why not just "un-bolt" the sub-frame, 4 bolts, and be done with it?

Every time I remove the lower-ball joints from the strut on my 1988 90, I would drop the sub-frame. It made the job much easier! Only takes a couple more minutes to do!

I'm not implying replace every part on the car, just simply offer an atlernative method to assist in your endevor. ;O)

Default Try this:

when i removed the ball joint from the strut i did this. removed the bolt holding it together and then using a small prybar i pushed on it and moved the entire strut, even turned it side to side and it came out easily.. Give that a try.
