Frustrated with these strut mounts
I am in the middle of changing these mounts on my 94 90 quattro. I believe the original ones are in there "boge". I bought the green top ones and the bearings seem a little different. The new green one doesn't fit over the nut that holds the spring cap on the strut. It can't sit on that nut, it doesn't look right at all. Do I have to take it all apart (compress springs) put the mount on and then screw the nut on holding the mount in place? Any help would be great. Thanks

Well here is the order of how the pieces go together...
1. the spring
2. the spring plate
3. the strut mount (green part facing down)
4. the tower nut.
The picture below is good if you get confused about something let me know.

to simply answer your question, yes the spring still must be compressed when you put the topmount on
it is the slotted nut that holds everything together, and it threads down the tube and into a recess of the strut mount.
