Default fuel injector R&R....

the little bastards dont seem to wanna come out of the IM, or the fuel rail for that matter. Took off all clips (at least i think), unscrewed the rail from the manifold, unlugged everything, but it still seems like there is something im missing, or they are just stuck. Do i need a special tool for this? Or should do i just pull firmly up on the rail?

They should just pull straight out with a little wiggle.

Default You need to pull firmly and evenly

They can be very difficult to get out. When i did mine, i had the IM and fuel rail out of the car, had to stand ontop of the IM and pull up with quite a bit of force to initially seperate the fuel rail and IM. Once you see or feel them starting to come out, resort to more precise methods, focusing on one side at a time. Gently wiggle the injectors around while applying upward force to remove them from the IM. I found it easiest to remove the injectors and fuel rail together, but it doesn't really matter which way you go.

Default Before you do that, did you pull the fuel pump fuse and crank the car so there wasn't any gas or...

...pressure in the lines?

Default They can be a PITA....

especially if they are OE, as their rubber seals can hold on quite dearly. ;O)

Have you had the recall done? Maybe you can get Audi to do it for you?
