Default Fuse question

So last night i tried starting my 89 90Q and the battery was flat.
was going to jump it and the moment i connect the jumpers sparks came out, disconnected immediately took a look at the cables they were worn the + and - were connecting at some point.
then i swapped the battery but something was wrong.
the car contacts well all lights come on but no crank.
Check all the fuses in the fuse box seem fine.
Is there an starter fuse or something away from the fuse box(larges fuse in there was 30?) that could have gone?
any help would be good thanks.

Default Re: Starter fuse question...

No, there is no fuse in the big power wire to the starter solenoid.

Can you hear the solenoid "click" when trying to start?
