Gains from a Ported Intake Manifold?
I noticed that TDL Racing sells a ported intake manifold for the 12v for $250. Does anybody know what gains can be expected from this modification? I haven't seen anybody on the list that indicates they have this mod.

Check it out!
Installing a ported intake manifold, all by itself, on a "bone stock" engine will yield nothing.
Installing a ported intake manifold on a "modified
motor" with ported throttle body, cone filter, exhaust and other mods to improve intake charge, will give you a small gain, combined with the other mods. You get a little here,a little there.
The biggest restriction in the 90 V6 intake system
is the throttlebody! If you mod whats up stream of it, the TB will block any improvements! So you would need to improve the TB,and everything down stream, inorder for the intake manifold to achieve its full potential.
A ported intake manifold is mainly for ported heads. Because the intake passages on the heads are larger(ported), so you need a ported intake.
My intake is ported, because I had to match the larger ports on my ported heads.

Cams with TB & Cone will give small gains.
I installed my Schrick 260's on my 93 90 with only
the TB & Cone filter for mods. I was disappointed at how little effect the cams added to the equation. After porting and polishing a set of heads, and installing them with stock cams, they actually gave more performance than the Schrick cam "stock" heads did! So I installed the Schricks in the ported heads, and the differance was amazing! The cams definetly produce more power on modified heads! Same story with my CGT's KX engine.
BLAU sells V6 cams in more "agressive" grinds than Schrick. 272 & 276. I'm curious of these as my CGT Schrick was a 272.
Anyone have a set of BLAU cams in their V6?

I have an 97 A6Q 2.8 12v v6 SOHC with ported throttle body, Schrick 260 cams 11.1mm lift, Stebro custom cat back T304, k&N cone conversion with extension to lower duct. I was wondering if you had any trouble with misfire? I have DTC Cyl 1 misfire detected. still working on solving it compression is ok and all plugs are new and ok/new timing belt/head gasket/valve seal. WIll soon get ported intake manifold from TDL located 20 minutes from me.
